Maltose Squishies
A maltose squishy takes its name from the thick malt syrup it imitates: pull it and it stretches into slow strands, let go and it sags back over several seconds rather than snapping. The filling is a dense syrup-texture gel inside a clear or tinted TPR skin, often with glitter suspended in it, so the stretch is visible as well as felt. It is the most "fluid" feeling squishy category we stock.
Stretch, Drape, Slow Return
Where a vaseline squishy holds its shape and a slow-rise dumpling springs back, a maltose squishy does something in between. It flows. Stretch it between two hands and the filling thins into a ribbon; release it and it pools back to shape over a few seconds. People describe the feel as "melting in the hand".
Popular shapes are dragon fruit, bees over a honey drop, jelly cubes and plain sugar balls. The clear versions with glitter show the flow most clearly.
What to Look for in a Maltose Squishy
- Thickness of the syrup. Thicker fillings stretch further and return slower. Thin fillings feel like water balloons.
- Skin clarity. Clear skins show the movement; tinted skins hide small marks.
- Seam quality. The stretch puts stress on seams, so look for moulded, not glued, bodies.
Safety and Care
The filling is a thick petroleum-jelly-style gel sealed inside a TPR skin. It is designed to stay put, not to leak. Ages 3+ with adult supervision; keep it away from sharp edges, and if the skin ever tears, throw it out. We do not stock anything filled with water beads, which were recalled in the US in September 2026.
Wipe with a barely damp cloth, air dry, keep away from heat and direct sunlight, and never stretch past the natural limit. The full routine is in our care guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a maltose squishy?
A stress toy with a thick, stretchy, syrup-textured gel filling inside a TPR skin. It stretches into strands and slowly reforms instead of bouncing back.
Is maltose squishy filling real maltose?
No. It is a food-safe synthetic gel engineered to mimic the texture of malt syrup. Nothing inside is edible.
How far can you stretch a maltose squishy?
Roughly two to three times its resting length before the skin is under real strain. Stretch, do not yank.
